Community Transport Services

The Community Transport and Volunteer program provides a range of services to residents of the Belconnen region when there are no other options available.

These services include:

  • Transport to medical, paramedical and other essential appointments and social transports.
  • Assisted shopping to local shopping centres or the Belconnen markets.
  • Social support that incorporates collection of medical supplies and x-rays.
  • Friendly visiting.

Community transport is available for the frail aged and people with a disability who do not have access to transport for medical, paramedical and other essential appointments. The program is funded through ACT Home and Community Care to assist people to live in the community and prolong moving into a residential care facility.

Volunteers are also able to provide friendly visits to clients who are isolated due to mobility and health issues or have no family or friends close by and also assist clients with shopping.

What does it cost?

When receiving Community Transport, Assisted Shopping and Assisted Social Support there is a small fee for each day the service is received.
